INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE
"IRRADIATED NUCLEAR FUEL MANAGEMENT 2002:
RUSSIAN NEW INITIATIVES"
Russia, Moscow, 8 - 12 September 2002

 

The Ministry of the Russian Federation for Atomic Energy and the Joint stock company "Techsnabexport" will arrange the International Conference "Irradiated Nuclear Fuel Management 2002: Russian New Initiatives" in Moscow, Russia, on September 8 - 12, 2002. The main purpose of the conference is to expand international cooperation in the field of irradiated nuclear fuel management.

The conference languages will be English and Russian.  Simultaneous translation between these two languages will be provided.

 

Conference Venue

The International Conference “Irradiated Nuclear Fuel Management 2002: Russian New Initiatives” will be held in the World Trade Center Moscow (WTCM). The WTCM is located 27 km away from Sheremetjevo-2 International Airport, in the center of Moscow, 4 km away from the Kremlin. In a walking distance there are the Russian Federation Government House, the US Embassy, various state institutions and the Expocentr, the largest exhibition site in Russia. The nearest metro station “Ulitsa 1905 Goda” is within 10 minutes walk. The WTCM world class Convention Center, specially designed to cater for various types and sizes of the occasions, has already successfully hosted over 6000 prestigious events.

Speakers are to pass the registration fee.

Cancellation

 

No refund can be made in case of cancellations made after August 12, 2002.  An administrative charge of $70 will be deducted from refunds made before that date.

Technical Tour

 

Technical tour to the radioactive waste management plant of the Moscow Scientific and Industrial Association Radon (MSIA Radon) will be available to delegates on Thursday, September 12, 2002.

MSIA Radon is the head company of the regional system of radioactive waste disposal facilities, which include another 15 plants of the same name. It specializes in the management of radioactive waste generated outside the nuclear fuel cycle.

MSIA Radon has developed Russia's first automated system of radio-ecological monitoring, which covers an area of more than 22 thousand square kilometers, including all administrative districts of Moscow and seven districts of the Moscow Region.

The plant is situated close to Sergiev Posad, Moscow Region (100 km from Moscow and 25 km from Sergiev Posad) and you have an opportunity to combine the technical visit with a tour to Sergiev Posad famous for its 14th century Trinity-Sergij Lavra (see Accompanying Persons Program).
